Our Time Is Now: How The Youth Can Change America For The Better

2016 was a year unlike any other in the history of our nation. All of our nation's citizens faced different challenges; some were personal, some societal, some economical, but none more complex and controversial than the political spectrum that divided our country larger than ever before.

The farce that was the most recent presidential campaign has shamed our country in the eyes of all foreigners. And, to be clear, I don't blame them.

And, if the protests after our new president's election are any indication, our country is still as divided as it was during the duration of the presidential race.

That is where the youth of America come in.

This is not the time to lose faith in our country. I would like, at this moment in time, to call all of my fellow teenagers, the 20-something year-olds, even adolescents, of America together.

We need to realize that if we do not advocate for our own opinions, the world will be a worse place for us in the future than it is currently.

What am I asking?

Go the extra mile. Get that better grade. Don't slack off. Stay involved in your community.

One day, we'll be leading the world. The last thing we want is a world ignorant to our opinions. We need to unite for a common cause.

Mr. Donald J. Trump, if you somehow end up reading this, please understand that this is in no way trying to defame you or any of your policies. I ask nothing more than for you to be aware that you, and all of the government, will be passing on policies to the younger people of the country you hold so dear. One day, your livelihood will be in the hands of the future generation. Do not let us down.

Our time is now. Let it show.
